The cloud use of the EU public sector is currently under investigation.
Indeed, the European Data Protection Board (EDPD) is trying to work out if the member states of the European Union are compliant with data privacy laws. An investigation into their use of cloud-based services has then been launched.
This was done in order to enforce data protection standards among EU supervisory authorities. It will take into account the digital transformation of the past years that has pushed public sector organisations to find cloud-based solutions that comply with EU data protection rules.
In the coming months, 22 supervisory authorities will gather information for the investigation before a report is published at the end of the year.
