The Imperial College London and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi have announced a new partnership to strengthen the security of cloud computing services.
Indeed, most devices and operating systems used to host cloud services in data centers are not currently designed against cybersecurity threats. These threats could be really dangerous especially as vital infrastructures are becoming significantly reliant on digital services and IoT.
The partnership will aim to mitigate those risks by redesigning the hardware and software that the cloud runs on in order to include security. The key challenge will be to make sure that data center servers are isolated from one another so that no malicious cloud tenant can access data belonging to another. It will also try to enable efficient communication for legitimate purposes.
The collaboration will combine the expertise of the Imperial College with the resources and expertise of the Technology Innovation Institute all the while incorporating more security to face the new cyber threats.
