It was recently reported that the Labour Party has been targeted by a cyberattack that affected some of its members’ data.
Indeed, it was found out that a third-party firm that handled membership on its behalf on October 29th led to a large proportion of the party data becoming inaccessible on their systems. An investigation was opened by the Information Commissioner’s Office and National Cyber Security Centre to look into the attack.
The Labour party is also working with the third-party firm to understand the incident and identify what type of data was affected. No more information was disclosed about the data compromised and the type of the attack, even though it was said to likely be a ransomware attack.
