NCSC warns small businesses against cybercriminals during the holiday period

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has recently published guidelines for retailers and small businesses to warn them about fraud and stolen data.

Indeed, the NCSC has already identified 4.151 online retail websites that were unwittingly hosting credit card skimmers, with the aim to exploit vulnerabilities in checkout software so as to divert payments and steal customer data. These were due to a vulnerability in Adobe’s Magento product that many small businesses keep on falling to update.

By doing so, the NCSC hopes to prevent small and medium-sized online retailers from being exploited by cybercriminals, which can cause harm to the business, its reputation, and its customers. Hence, it is urging businesses to keep their websites as secure as possible and update their software by following their guidance.
