A new study by Ensono revealed the top challenges regarding the multi-cloud strategy of US and UK IT leaders.
Indeed, it was found out that the highest concern for IT professionals that are considering or are already using, multi-cloud strategies is security. For UK leaders, the next concerns are governance and cost optimization, while for US leaders, it is cost optimization and the ability to maintain a positive end-user experience.
The study noted that 43% of IT leaders have then turned to a Managed Service Provider (MSP) in order to overcome issues with their multi-cloud strategy. They were drawn to work with MSPs so as to have a faster time to adoption as well as the possibility to have more skills. Hence, it was also reported that AWS and Microsoft Azure were the most common areas of public cloud expertise to have internally in a business.
Moreover, the report showed that around 67% thought that the pandemic did not disrupt or accelerated their plans to move to a multi-cloud environment, while only 19% of respondents declared that COVID-19 had slowed their adoption of multi-cloud due to new priorities.
With a rise in cloud technology, organizations need to find a cloud strategy that is right for them and be aware that having more complex deployments such as multi-cloud comes with many challenges. Hence, it is advised that before a migration, businesses undertake a thorough audit of their existing applications and put together a comprehensive roadmap to the cloud so as to ensure that security, user experience, and cost optimization are always taken into account.
