It was recently reported that Oxford City Council suffered a minor outage at one of its datacentres over the weekend.
Indeed, the SCC has confirmed that a botched platform firewall upgrade has led to technical difficulties for the Council’s IT and email systems. The outage was due to a hardware failure that blocked access to all network traffic into and out of the data centres.
SCC also stated that there were no issues with the systems or data but only the access. On Monday, it was reported that the service has resumed and all the issues were fully resolved.
It was confirmed that the upgrade was rolled back and that access was restored quickly without impacting the systems or data.
