The Ministry of Defence recently announced that it would invest millions of pounds in the development of Royal Navy warships with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Indeed, these intelligent warships will be able to think for themselves and take appropriate decisions. The MoD’s Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) already received the first wave of funding, stating that the programme aims to revolutionise the way warships take action and process thousands of strands of intelligence and data by using AI.
It was also reported that nine projects will share £1 million to develop technology and innovative solutions to overcome the increasing information overload faced by crews as part of DASA’s Intelligent Ship.
Hence, it was declared that the funding will enable research into pioneering projects in how AI and automation can support armed forces.
