It was recently reported that the UK is falling behind regarding software engineering that can support artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.
Indeed, a study by IBM showed that software engineering and knowledge of programming languages are now essential in order to improve career developments in AI. Specialist tech staff also need to work more with business managers and have skills such as interpersonal communication, strategic problem solving, and critical thinking.
However, it was found that only 32% of UK staff receive appropriate AI training, with just 27% focusing on software engineering. It is then extremely important to demonstrate soft skills and especially problem solving to be more employable. Companies should also offer education and skills related to AI and software engineering.
