It was recently reported that Sunderland University has been the victim of a major cyber-attack.
Indeed, the University has been affected by a powerful attack, which has put offline its telephone, website, and IT systems for several days. The vice-chancellor of the University does not know when the disruption will be fixed or when the IT systems and services will be back to normal.
It is a very upsetting situation as the University managed to recover after COVID-19. It is then working to resolve the situation as soon as possible as well as protect its data.
This is not the first university to be targeted by hackers as others in Newcastle and Northumbria Universities have been affected by cyberattacks in the past year. The National Cyber Security Centre has then warned of a spike in attacks on educational institutions.
