During the Digital Government Virtual Summit, Director of Policy and Strategy Simon Madden announced that the NHSX will soon publish its data strategy for health and social care.
Indeed, the strategy will aim to ensure that all local systems implement basic shared care records as well as work towards longer-term comprehensive record sharing across health services. The basic shared care records are expected to be deployed in September 2021.
The data strategy for health and social care has for goal to set out a vision on how to share data efficiently and improve patient outcomes. It should focus on giving UK citizens better access, choice, and transparency regarding health and social care.
Moreover, the NHSX data strategy plans to build on the work done during the pandemic as well as use it to empower staff and system leaders to be more confident in handling data through simplified information governance.
It was also reported that it is aiming to adopt safe, effective, and ethical data-driven technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance health outcomes.
Most of all, the data strategy wishes to simplify information governance.
